Pressure-treated wall studs, measures?
I (probably) have pressure-treated wall studs in the house.
This is not very suitable as they can emit toxic fumes and may smell bad if exposed to moisture.
We are planning to replace the facade and will then expose the studs from the outside, at which point one could take the opportunity with some simple measure (replacing the studs feels a bit too complicated).
One idea I had was to ozone treat by building a small "tent" of construction plastic and studs with an ozone generator inside and move this around and treat one section at a time. I know ozone takes care of odors, but what about impregnation toxins?
Would it also help to paint the studs; does it help to bind toxins?
The wood is 40 years old; perhaps the impregnation toxins have "faded" over time?
Furthermore, we have negative pressure ventilation in the crawl space, which probably helps to draw down some of the toxins/odors so they don't enter the house.
Any other ideas or tips?
