Pre-watering aerated concrete/hollow blocks?

I was thinking of smoothing the edges of my sawn-off doorway with Byggmax masonry and plaster mortar and am now wondering if you need to pre-water first.

It depends on the weather, if the sun shines directly, it makes sense because then it won't burn as quickly. Otherwise, it's really just a matter of taste, sure if you water a little, you're sure that the burning time won't be too fast.
