We continue to ponder our carport, and with my idea of having a terrace on top of the carport, I came up with the idea of maybe fully casting a carport? With a flat roof where you can plant things? Besides building permit issues, is this something you can do yourself? Or do you have to hire professionals for such a thing?
From a structural standpoint, everything can be solved with proper dimensioning, but what are your thoughts on a planting area on top of the carport? The idea is to have a flat roof with a suitable "border" around to contain soil, sand, and stones for planting hardy small plants, with an area where you can socialize with friends and acquaintances. The drainage of water is arranged with drainage holes/drainage.
I assume here that you need a special type of cement to make the concrete denser so the reinforcement doesn't start rusting?

Of course, drainage should be arranged at the edges so that water doesn't accumulate there. But I was more concerned about the reinforcement rusting and causing the concrete to crack. But then, I suppose the reinforcement in house foundations should rust as well, I assume.
