Hello,
I have a house: 1 story + basement with an extension. The extension is built with a pier foundation as you can see in the pictures.

I'm now considering if there's a reason to change it. Personally, I think it looks strange compared to the rest of the house which has a nice base. My thought is to possibly build a wall so that it matches the rest. In these thoughts, it occurred to me why not make a concrete slab with, say, 300mm of insulation underneath since there's enough space for it.

Anyone who can contribute with any sensible reason to do one thing or the other?

House extension supported by pier foundation, showing exposed soil and rocks underneath, with wooden steps and shovel in foreground. Underside of an extension with a pile foundation, showing wooden beams, gravel, and a pipe. View of a crawl space under a house extension with a post and beam foundation, showing concrete piers and gravel ground.

I would have left it as it is unless there are any direct problems with the current solution.
To tidy up the whole thing, I would probably consider baseboards.

As far as I know, there are no problems. I thought that you might have less heat consumption if you don't have a plintgrund.
