Hello!

I’m going to try to create a space in the garden for a hammock. I have no trees to attach it to, so I want to dig down two posts/lumber that lean slightly away from each other.

I’m thinking of packing macadam and casting them with coarse concrete.

What dimension of post do you recommend, how deep do I need to get them, and is there an optimal angle for them to be as stable as possible?

Byggmax sells lumber that is 120*140 (NTR A). Would that work?

Thankful for your response!

Best regards, Per

Were you eager to cast or was it the hammock you were interested in? Because if it's the latter, there are hammock stands. ;)

:) It's a forest glade so I would like to incorporate wood material. The ground is also quite uneven, which makes me prefer a bit of work and fixing with them.

There are quite a few videos showing different ways.
I would have cast the posts directly into the ground.

You can make nodes in metal in which you insert wooden rods to create a frame for the hammock.

Hi!

I plan to pack gravel and encase them with rough concrete.

What dimension of post do you recommend, how deep do I need to set them, and is there an optimal angle to make them as stable as possible?

Hi Per!
Reviving your old thread. Did you use timber? Did it turn out well? I have the same idea.

Hello!

Yes, I cast construction timber from Byggmax into the ground. Set them at a slight angle. I attached two carabiners to each post to adjust the angle of the hammock. Turned out well! :)

Person relaxing in an orange hammock attached to posts by a lakeside deck, surrounded by trees and greenery. Black dog standing on hind legs in an orange hammock, with wooden post supporting it. Stairs and greenery lead up to a house in the background. A person relaxing in an orange hammock by a lake, with a wooden post and carabiner visible, surrounded by trees and a cloudy sky.

Yes, I cast down building timber from Byggmax. Placed them with a few degrees of inclination. I've attached two carabiners on each post to adjust the angle of the hammock. Turned out great! :)

What a wonderfully pleasant place you seem to have there! Looks good with the hammock. I think I'll go for the same thing. I'm considering using two 45x145 (or similar) and placing them on either side at the top between the posts.

Thank you!

You can probably hold off on that a bit. My posts hardly move, even with heavier loads.

Evaluate first and see.

Hej!

Pelle, ser väldigt fint ut! Gammal tråd nu, men undrar två saker:
Hur grovt timmer, 150mm?
Hur gjöt du ner, slog du in någon spik för extra fäste eller gjöt direkt?
Vill ju kopiera din lösning!

Hej Sigge!

Jag köpte dessa:
https://www.byggmax.se/120x140-bygg...S47nyROFLV90xJWrrzyd-Dw19WcdMd5RoCcscQAvD_BwE
