Hello!

In our kitchen cabinet, the screw that holds the fan goes straight through and sticks up like a sharp little awl inside the cabinet.

The builders put small transparent plastic caps that were screwed onto the sharp end. I would like to buy more but don’t know what they’re called and can’t find them online. I only find caps that cover the screw head and not the sharp part.

Can someone help me with what they’re called and where I can buy them?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds very unprofessional to assemble something with a screw that's too long and then cover up the mistake with a plastic cap.
Can't "builders" redo it correctly?
Do you have a picture of the plastic cap? It would be easier to help you find the right one that way.

Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of relationship with the carpenter. That was the least of our problems... Leaking facades, roofs without battens, etc., etc., etc., are bigger issues...

The dilemma is that I "borrowed" the plastic caps from the kitchen cabinet and put them somewhere else, and now unfortunately I don't remember where. When/if I remember, I'll take a picture.

I hope someone else might know what it is.

Switch to shorter screws or cut the existing ones with, for example, a "multitool" like Fein is my suggestion. Never heard of plastic caps for this purpose. Seems particularly sloppy!

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

unscrew the screw, cut it a bit, and screw it back. Mounting screws and screws in general are often hard, so you need some kind of strong pliers or something.
