Plastering a brick fireplace, how?
I want to smooth out an open fireplace fairly evenly. Right now it looks like in the picture below. How should I proceed? Should I try to knock down the bricks as evenly as possible (with the risk of the stones cracking?) and then plaster? Should I just fill the gaps with a ton of mortar? Is reinforcement needed? Hilfe 😅🥲
Polish until it becomes smooth is what you're supposed to do. Shouldn't be a problem.
But why? Change appearance? Is it going to be painted afterward? White? Wouldn't it work to paint directly without polishing then? And keep the somewhat unique texture, but make it a little more discreet. Lots of guesses. hm hm Serious suggestions, of course, I mean😁

What, don't you think it's discreet? 😅😉O said:

Yes, to change appearance. I find it hard to see the beauty in it as it stands now. Just painting might have worked, but I still think I'd want it smooth 😅 I might also be super eager to try smoothing. But do you think it's possible to just go for it, without reinforcement or anything?
Thanks for the heads up, I'll cover it like crazy. The floor is going to be replaced all the way down to the concrete, but it's probably nice to cover it anyway 😊N neo11 said:

Then it's enough to place a masonite board against it.
And then paint with weber cal 246
