exactly what we also heard, next to the stove it is not a chimney stack but just a brick wall.
Now the chimney breast is finished! It was Hydraulic Lime Mortar and homemade lime paint (7 coats).
Left to fix are the fan vent, hearth, and a few moldings. But so far, I am incredibly satisfied with the results - especially considering it's the first time I've plastered anything.
