I am plastering my window niches and will be installing aquabead corner protectors around them. The wall plasterboard is finished with a "straight uncased edge." Now I'm considering whether it's best to position a plasterboard with the tapered side facing the wall or leave it straight cut here as well. What I'm wondering is if the taper is too deep for the aquabead to come up sufficiently, or if it's actually good that it's tapered so you don't have to apply too much filler inside the niche (they are about 25cm deep).

Two drawings comparing drywall edges, the left shows a straight cut, and the right a bevelled edge, illustrating corner treatment options.

You're thinking correctly!

A straight plasterboard edge is preferable. I would spread filler all the way into the niche from the corner protection. It's not more work and completely conceals the transition. Normally, you would spread at least 25 cm from the corner protection.

That you can run with the facade edge towards the corner. Our painters always wanted that as the result was better (y)

2 answers 2 results. Conclude that both work. It will probably be that some rooms get Raka edges, and some get fasad. Then I can get 3 strips per sheet. If I cut away 5-6 cm it becomes a bit tight. Even though gypsum is one of the few materials that hasn't skyrocketed in price:rofl:
