We have finally installed our fireplace and this weekend we plan to start plastering the firewall, which is built with blocks.
It doesn't quite look like this now, but hopefully, it will be this nice by Christmas... :

Does anyone have any tips on how to do the plastering in a smooth way? Tools? Technique? Tips on a good, informative website?

Hello and thanks for the tip! A bit late, but still...
We got the stove polished over the weekend and it actually turned out great! I think... we will paint tomorrow, and perhaps imperfections will be more visible then... :-/
Do you or anyone else maybe have tips on what to consider when painting the stove?? :-?
