Hello!
We are currently working with renovation plasterboard. We have a fireplace with an insert and wonder if it's possible to plasterboard the walls around the fireplace or if something else should be used right next to the fireplace? Currently, there are fiberboards there... the fireplace itself is coated with something unpleasantly bumpy, large lumps. I also want to ask for advice on what can be done to make it smoother as it is difficult to clean now. Plaster and what kind of plaster in that case?

I just took this journey.

We finished with plaster up to the fireplace, you seem to already have a clear divider. Was advised by the chimney sweep to keep the wall behind the fireplace to monitor future cracks.

Around our fireplace was a plastered wall, so I skim-coated it.

I sanded down the stove and then used regular fine filler to smooth it out. Then I painted with primer and woodwork paint. (We had brick before.)

Very satisfied with the result when the wall color is the same as the other walls and the cornice ties together the small niche that is created.
