Placing decorative stone in corners
Hello!
I'm not sure if I'm in the right part of the forum for this question, if I'm not, I apologize.
Now to the question...
I will soon be putting up decorative stone on our chimney breast at home, but I have some concerns about how to do the corner of the chimney so that it looks nice. Since the stones are up to 4 cm thick, there will be an awkward corner where they meet, unless you overlap them (see attached image). I don't think overlapping will look nice either, as there will be an awkward visible seam from it.
What's the best way to solve this nicely? Should I cut them at a 45-degree angle where they meet? That would be quite a job

The stones you're setting are roughly like these: http://www.bygghemma.se/productimages/a051801/177462/1/290x290/dekorsten-vaggsten-montana-gra.jpg

The neatest result will likely be with a 45-degree cut, but then you should probably split, so the same "stone" wraps around the corner. Since they are 4 cm thick, the option on the right is probably the best if you don't cut.
Thanks so much for the response! I've always known deep down that a 45-degree cut would be best, but it's quite a bit of work, so I thought there might be some other trick. =)
Isn't it possible to put some kind of rounded corner trim in roughly the same color? But that might not look good. I guess cutting it is the way to go after all, or else I'll regret it later.

Have you checked that there are cornerstones in the same design?
I put stone on our chimney breast in the living room last winter and the same in the kitchen this spring.
Not the same style as yours, but that manufacturer had cornerstones in their range.
I know from when I was looking for suitable "stone" that the cheapest ones weren't available in corner design.

I was in a store yesterday and it was just like DeEss wrote, there are ready-made hörnstenar. So it was solved very smoothly. Thanks anyway for all the tips and answers! Much appreciated!
PS. Funny that the picture you uploaded, DeEss looks exactly like my kitchen/living room...
