I have a regular plastered outer corner with a metal corner bead, but want to extend the wall past the corner. The additional wall's drywall will meet the corner bead, so recessing for tape in the joint is tricky. How would you approach this, try to remove the corner bead, add another layer of drywall (it's a short wall that needs to be extended by 60cm so not a large amount of boards if that's the case), or what are good alternatives? There are electrical outlets and switches on the wall that might make an extra layer of drywall difficult.

I don't quite understand what you mean, maybe a picture would help...

Anyway, if you're thinking of a joint without countersinks, you can glue paper tape (with e.g. våtrumsgrund) and then apply putty with a "bump"... just like when short sides of plasterboards meet.
