Would like to build one like that when the front is fixed with new tiles, etc.....how should I
calculate how big the bottom part should be because that's where I have to start building the first
step....has anyone done something similar? tips?....so that it fits well to the top step....

Start from the top? Or use pre-made vangstycken? :)
(I went with pre-made, and the external measurements turned out as they did)

Ask the question in the "altandelen" section of the forum, where there are numerous staircases and endless knowledge.

Yes, that sounded like a good idea, how did you attach the vangstyckena? Did you use 6? 2 straight out, 2 angled, and 2 blocks against the bridge? Do you have a picture of your bridge?

If I remember correctly, I used 10 of them (2 per side).
This was among the first I crafted, so it probably wasn't constructed as cleverly as it could have been. ;)
I built the platform out, it stands on 2 concrete pillars.
Then I checked how many steps the stringers should/could have.
After that, I made a 'sill' that was leveled on stones around the bottom where the stringers rest against.
Then the steps were crafted and covered.

Not a very good picture of the stairs, but the best one available on the computer, you can see a bit how it looks anyway.
