Paste paint problem again, fix with plaster?
I have a problem with the ceiling in the kitchen. The layer of glue paint closest to the concrete is peeling, which results in cracking in the new paint.
As I see it, I have two options:
1. Scrape everything down to the concrete, wash, skim coat, sand, paint.
2. Install some form of plasterboard on the ceiling. Would prefer to avoid using battens. Is it possible to glue renovation plasterboard to the ceiling? Concrete ceiling.
I gratefully welcome any input.

I had a similar problem in an apartment a long time ago. I scraped off what was loose. Then I made a mixture of something that I applied with a brush to mimic the existing texture. Unfortunately, I don't remember what I mixed. It might have been wallpaper adhesive and filler(?). Regardless, it turned out well after painting.J Jimp said:I have a problem with the kitchen ceiling. Okay! Have you avoided cracks in the new paint?N nybyggarn3 said:I had a similar problem in an apartment a long time ago. I scraped away what was loose. Since the root of the problem is that the existing paint is peeling, it seems like a bad idea to glue up drywall. I think scraping, filling, and painting is the way to go. Screwing up drywall on the concrete ceiling seems troublesome.
Absolutely true. There's probably no way to get around the problem. It will be necessary to add new battens. Scraping it off will be a mammoth task. There are already 3-4 layers on the glue paint.A Avemo said:
