If it's radon you're worried about, as mentioned it's radiation, not dust, that you should be cautious of. However, breathing in sanding dust is never good, whether it's from blue concrete or something else entirely. You don't need to have anxiety over a little drilling. Make sure to have appropriate protective equipment next time and move on with life. Radon phobia is best cured by finding out the facts.
I didn't say it would be impossible but not typical or the most common in intermediate floors when it comes to larger buildings with many apartments. Blåbetong, as far as I can understand, was a competitor/alternative to lightweight concrete (siporex) and siporex had elements that were used as intermediate floors (at least in villas). Could it not be that manufacturers of blåbetong also had the same products for competitive reasons? (Note I have no idea but it should be likely???)
Sure, it is sometimes used for smaller buildings and even industrial buildings in the same way as siporex, as they are basically the same except for the different materials used in the manufacturing process.
And my concern is based on the idea that dust from blåbetong is as harmful to health as radon plus smoking. For it is the radon daughters that, when accompanied by smoke, reach the lungs.

The increased risk of cancer from a single exposure is typically at the same level as a cigarette, a couple of snus, or a bottle of wine. So if you don't get the worst cancer anxiety after using any of these, there's no reason to worry in this case either.
Yes, that's completely correct. Both Siporex and "Blue Concrete" are so porous that you can work on them with hand tools, and you definitely don't need a hammer drill to struggle with.Trissen said:

Based on the fact that it's an apartment that rarely has a separation floor in lightweight concrete and where you had to use a hammer drill, one can surely say that you don't have a lightweight concrete floor. And thus, not a floor made of blue concrete.
So for that reason, you can be completely calm!
And as I wrote before, radon is naturally present in our environment in greater and smaller amounts, and many people live in areas that give high indoor values, but that's a completely different problem and something that needs to be handled if it turns out you live in such an area.
But for your drilling, take it easy and don't worry about this.

No. Radon daughters are constantly forming in small amounts in uranium-containing materials such as blåbetong. But the radon present in a room built of blåbetong comes from a large volume of concrete. Perhaps from several cubic meters of concrete. But precisely because it is a gas, radioactivity from several cubic meters of concrete can have a chance to end up in your lungs. Especially if the gas can accumulate in the room (the countermeasure is ventilation). But if you inhale dust from blåbetong, you get a fraction of a gram of concrete in your lungs. Which admittedly emits radon, but incredibly much less than the (small) amount of gas that comes from the rest of the concrete in the room. So the dust from blåbetong is not a risk at all regarding radon. But as pointed out, one should be careful with construction dust regardless of the material type, as dust damages lungs.Trissen said:

As just mentioned, radon is a gas. Dust or not, this gas is emitted by, among other things, a mineral used in the production of blåbetong. Radon is also found in the ground throughout Sweden. Often in gravel ridges where it easily escapes and can enter homes. The gas is also in the bedrock, and if you have your own well, you can get radon in the water.
To reduce the level of the gas in the home, one should improve ventilation.
I don't think you need to worry that you have been exposed to a high dose of radon specifically because of the drilling in the roof.

It's enough to know about the houses built until the mid-70s with blåbetong and where, as you and Krilleman claim, there is an apartment-separating floor slab in a multi-family house made of the same material.roland53 said:

And in TS's case, it doesn't really matter what your answer is because with the input values TS has given, it's neither Siporex nor blåbetong TS drilled into.
And as a curiosity for your part, I am very familiar with both Siporex, the factory, and the surroundings where this material was manufactured, and I can reassure some here that as children, we chalked both figures and hopscotch on the asphalt with both siporex and blåbetong pieces, and I am still alive. Siporex was the best to use because it was white and showed up best on the ground.
