Hello,
We have a toilet in the basement that is currently painted with silicate paint. Silicate paint is, to say the least, difficult to wipe clean, and we all know how people turn off the water when they dry their hands.
So, can you paint the area where the towel will hang with another easily wiped paint (I'm assuming we're talking about plastic paint)? This concerns 150x50 cm from the floor on a non-exterior wall.
The idea is for it to be located about 20 cm to the right of the tiles here:

It's silicate paint because the wall needs to "breathe" (it's probably an uninsulated exterior wall then). If there is a heated space behind the wall, it's normally not a problem to paint over it. Otherwise, if there is a risk of penetrating moisture or moisture migration and you paint with a dense paint, the plaster can detach, and bulges/cracks can develop in the wall.
An alternative could be to "cover" the wall with glass panels or mirror glass with a bit of spacing from the wall.

I spoke with the paint store and they said that even if you find the same color, the gloss will not be the same, so it will be noticeable that you are painting the area.
As mentioned, this is an interior wall where it's heated, so there shouldn't be any problems.
We'll probably have to leave it as it is, and if it becomes a problem in the future, we can cover it with silicate again and then put a glass panel or something similar as you suggest.
