If you have a summer cottage out in the "wilderness," sooner or later it's time once again to have a hammer in hand instead of relaxing in the hammock ;D. The road to the nearest hardware store is long, and it’s important to plan ahead if you want to avoid a 30 km trip to buy a box of nails.

We are blessed with a large barn, and I have long considered stocking up on lumber. I was thinking of buying a few hundred linear meters of the most common dimensions. However, the local hardware store won't be getting my money. Instead, I thought about buying odd lots of lumber from small sawmills or farms for a cheap price. Sometimes, someone throws out leftover lumber on blocket.se.

I haven’t found a website like "timber exchange," though.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have something like this on byggahus?

Try www.woodnet.se, I seem to remember that there are sometimes ads. If nothing else, there are many links that will take you further within the wood industry.

Try calling the local sawmills (check the yellow pages) I have an acquaintance who got good prices because they asked at the "right time"

Yep, have shopped there a bit. Completely satisfied, I only have good things to say about Jan at the saw. (Yes, that's his name) Say hi from Norén ;)
