Hello. Hope this is the right forum section.
We have an exterior stair that has sagged at the front, so it leans outward.
Now I'm wondering if it's possible to lift the front part with a jack so that a few slabs can be placed underneath the front edge.
This is only supposed to be a temporary solution, as it will be re-drained in due course.
Hello.
The stairs are made of concrete.
In the second picture, you can see how it leans away from the house.
It was a little when we moved in, but has gotten worse over the years.
This staircase is factory-made, so it should be possible to lift, if you do it carefully ..
The risk is that the staircase wants to move away from the wall, so you must keep an eye on that when lifting
so it's best to do this entirely from the front.. would probably work with just a long iron bar
and a concrete slab underneath...so you get a lever effect ....watch your fingers....
Eti..
Calculate the lever arm and your own weight and you'll see that it results in quite a large force, you shouldn't be lifting the entire staircase into the air.
No, one shouldn't do that. But it needs to be lifted about 10cm into the air, to be able to insert some tiles. I'll check with my strong friends when the weather gets better.
Thanks for all the help. It's nice to be able to ask questions without feeling completely dumb.
