How well does a 12mm OSB and a 6mm gypsum board insulate? The reason is that I am removing an old insulation from the inner/outer wall that is 12mm thick. Behind it, there are 2 by 7 studs assembled into a wall.
Now the question is what to do with the insulation against the outer wall versus the inner wall. The wall becomes much thicker (45x70 stud, OSB, and gypsum) and it's not ideal for windows and door frames with a wall that sticks out 7-8 cm or thereabouts. Just OSB and gypsum against the walls work well as it can be complemented with a trim where they stick out. Do I need to go with insulation or not?

Osb and plasterboard do not insulate anything. Or if we are to be precise, they insulate a little, but you can disregard that in this case.Ghost79 said:How well does an OSB 12mm and a 6mm plasterboard insulate?

You write that the wall consists of "2 tum 7". What does that mean? Is it made of 7 inches (17.5cm) of solid wood or is it just 5cm of wood? Regardless, it might be a good idea to add some insulation to improve the indoor climate and heating economy. Even 45mm of extra insulation will make a noticeable difference.
Regarding renovation plasterboard or regular plasterboard, I agree with everyone else. Use 13mm plasterboard if you have a choice. If you want easier-to-handle sizes, you can choose boards that are only 90cm wide. It will mean more seams to fill, but you will surely manage that.

In my building supply store, the difference is no more than 50 öre between regular and renovation plasterboard, but I haven't checked the store price since it's with my discount. Upon further thought, it was probably over a year ago that I asked for the price, but the difference shouldn't have increased so significantly. Otherwise, I agree that it's preferable to use standard plasterboard, partly because they break so easily and partly because they hide unevenness better.Stefan N said:
