We will be laying flooring soon and are considering which to buy. Byggmax is, as usual, cheap, but are their floors good? A few knots and such are fine, but no big holes or cracks.
Is there anywhere else to buy pine flooring at a reasonable price? We want the widest planks possible, but we also have a pretty tight budget. Suggestions?

you can check with a local sawmill.
possibly buy cheaply and sort out the good ones. if you're unlucky it can be more expensive than places like Beijer or other more expensive companies.

We were in the human village yesterday and checked it out, and it looks quite okay. A few ugly branches, but I guess you have to expect some waste. Waste will occur regardless of how expensive the wood is initially.
But locally sawn would be interesting - does anyone know of a sawmill in the Växjö - Hovmantorp area?

I have also been looking for pine flooring. The problem with having a local sawmill plane a floor is that many do not have access to a dryer. I asked two different sawyers, but both were hesitant to plane floors because they could warp and shrink. If you don't mind that, you can probably get better flooring at a lower price from a local sawmill. By the way, I can highly recommend Kavelbrosågen, but it is closer to Kalmar than Växjö.
Bought 26x145 pine flooring at GS-byggvaror outside Halmstad, for 89kr per square meter, consistently good quality. Called "japan-golv" because the dimension is exported to Japan. What is rejected by picky Japanese looked better to my eyes than A-class Swedish flooring

I have installed "Ekonomigolv" which is somewhat wider and more expensive but also looks nice:

Maybe you have a similar small timber yard in Kronoberg that is not part of the big chains?

It wasn't called Japan-floor in the store/warehouse, but when I placed the order for the floor, the word was mentioned and so I looked it up, and that dimension is specifically for Japanese export apparentlyKnockOnWood said:
They don't have that floor on the website. (It was the floor you bought that I stopped by to look at, and I found 2-3 variants they had in stock, and this one cost 89kr per square meter..)
