Hi!
I'm working on fixing up the basement and wondering if I can make the staircase a bit more open.
What do you think about creating an opening according to the pictures I'm attaching? From what I understand, only the middle wall is load-bearing, but I could at least leave a pillar at the end, I'm thinking? I'm attaching the floor plan and technical description of the house.

Thoughts and ideas about my plan here? 😊

  • Wall in a basement with red markings outlining a proposed opening for stairs. Tools are visible and a blue door is partially shown.
  • Staircase in a basement with a white wall marked in red lines, illustrating a proposed design change for an opening.
  • Plan drawing and technical description of a house's structural details with notes on materials for foundations, floors, insulation, and roofing from 1956.
  • Technical description document for a renovation project showing structural details and materials for a one-story Ytong house in Östergötland.
  • Floor plan of a basement showing a red-marked staircase area, with labels like "disponibel," "garage," and "tvättstuga," indicating proposed changes.
