Hello
I've extended the house and need to remove a window. And saw my way down. There will be a log left against the sill. Is it enough to place a beam on each side that's screwed into the timber as it is today? I don't want the timber to slide away.
A wooden interior wall with a multi-paned window. The room is dimly lit, showing detailed timber construction and a partially visible green hose at the bottom.

The best thing is probably to do as was done when the window was installed. Set a regel flush with the timber. That is, replace the existing one next to the frame and replace it with a new one that continues all the way down. If you're going to screw, the screws should be quite sturdy.
