Living in a brick house and want to open up for a balcony door in the spring. Any tips on how to do this and potential difficulties? Is there a risk that the wall will "collapse" when we remove it for the opening?

If we plan to convert the attic in the future, what is easier and cheaper? Installing skylights or regular windows in the brick wall?

Thanks for the help!

Hello! Certainly no problem, it usually works to install a door. The load is probably not on the brick, I assume. You start on the inside, with demolition. Now you have to decide whether a beam is needed over the section. If there is a beam, a pillar is needed on each side of the beam. During the installation of a possible beam, it may be necessary to prop it up while the beam is put in place.
