Hello!
I need and want to open up the "kattvind", by the chimney breast, on the upper floor. It doesn't need to be the whole way, just a passage by the chimney breast. I am worried that the wall is load-bearing and don't know how I should proceed. In other rooms, the "kattvind" are completely open, except for a closet. The house is about 200 years old. See pictures. Thanks!

There is a passage in the white wall by the chimney on the first image. So the chimney is exposed. A passage so you can possibly have a small storage behind the rest of the wall.
It's always difficult to know what's behind the walls in old houses..
Do you have any insight into how the house has been constructed in other parts? Wooden wall?
Otherwise, you might just have to put a saw into the board, remove a piece and take a look..

I think it's a plank wall. On this wall, it might be a plank wall with some kind of Masonite board or similar on top. Do I dare to cut a hole?GoForIt said:
