Hello,

We have just bought a 1.5-story house from 1969.
The house is built with truss framework.

We would like to open up to the ridge over the living room.
Is it possible to get rid of the beams in the ceiling of the living room?

  • Blueprint of truss roof structure with marked section in red labeled "Ta bort!" indicating removal for opening up living room ceiling.
It is probably an advanced operation and likely not possible (within reasonable limits) to change due to the current construction. In that case, it might be just as well to replace the chair type with a folding chair or rebuild to a 'svensk takstol', i.e., an entirely new roof. If you plan to redo it, you might as well take the opportunity :)
