In our previous house, we chose to install oak veneer (Kährs) in the kitchen, as the seller said this flooring was more durable than parquet, almost on par with laminate. We will not choose this type of flooring again. It ended up with numerous marks and scratches on the floor. The other floors, which were both laminate and parquet, and both significantly older and slightly newer than the veneer floor, looked much better.
It should also be noted that we have pets and children, so there is a bit of extra wear on the floors.

Oak parquet can be sanded when damage occurs. Oak veneer usually cannot be sanded due to its thin surface layer. We chose a parquet floor that we have treated with hardwax oil. The advantage of hardwax oil compared to a lacquered floor is that you can freshen up/maintain the floor by applying new hardwax oil. A lacquered floor needs to be sanded if you are going to re-lacquer it.
