Hello
I want to build a dormer and there are Masonite beams/light beams in the trusses.
The dormer itself is between two trusses, so these are not affected. But I would like to be able to insert a nogging between these and use it to support the ceiling. How do you attach cross items to light beams? Can you glue-screw a plywood or something on the side into which I then screw in a joist hanger?

If it is a light beam with wood on top and bottom and masonite in the middle, I would have inserted and glue-nailed (or a few screws) a plywood on both sides in the web of the beam and then placed the joist hanger as you mentioned.eriobe said:

How do you attach transverse things to light beams? Can you glue-screw a plywood or something on the side that I then screw a joist hanger into?
