when I was preparing for the ceiling etc. in my basement, I realized that there is no sole plate on the basement wall. The floor joists are directly on the lecablock, with a layer of syllpapp in between. The house is from '75 and it has worked so far, but it seems a bit strange. Was it okay to build without a sole plate in the 70s? Is it still okay?
