New render on brick posts at driveway

I've translated text from Swedish to English below:

My entrance pillars are made of brick and I now want them plastered and then painted white.

I have searched on various sites but can't find how to proceed to get good, durable, straight corners, etc.

Should you attach a plank and pull the plaster towards it and then remove it to then do the next side or how do you go about it?

Should you use a priming compound first and then plaster...

Attach boards so you can plaster two opposite sides first and then plaster the other two. I don't think you need primer mortar but wet the brick thoroughly before you start plastering.

Start by thoroughly cleaning with facade cleaner and pressure washing the posts. Then mesh if it is smooth brick. Then plaster as larsbj describes above. The boards can be fastened with regular clamps/quick clamps, align carefully with a level and square. Plaster two of the sides and let dry for 24 hours before removing the forms and plastering the others, it is easiest. Use an a- or b-mortar, pre-wet thoroughly and post-water for three days.
