Have a fireplace in the living room, and the chimney is visible in the kitchen!

Is there any possibility to open up the chimney in the kitchen area as well,
say about 1m from floor level - so that it can also be used in the kitchen?

Alternatively, can you open it up and make a shelf in the kitchen,
then buy a small "decorative fireplace with glass front" that burns with stove fuel?

I really have no idea myself... so all input is worth gold!

Have a mason who would perform all types of work anyway..

You probably cannot install two fireplaces with a shared flue.(?)

If you have an unused chimney that is accessible from the kitchen without any other chimney/duct in the way, then it is possible.

Yes, as mentioned, each fireplace must have its own flue channel.
It's important to remember that you have an obligation to report if you install a new fireplace, and the chimney sweep must perform a pressure test on the flue channel and approve the installation before you start using the fireplace.

Aha, good to know.. probably scrap that idea entirely and get one that uses stove fuel, there are models that mimic a real modern stove, i.e., slightly round in shape (on foot).
