New indoor wooden staircase, how loud is that?
Hello!
We have a newly built house (2010) with a wooden staircase between the floors.
The staircase has now been reassembled and complemented with a spindle in the middle. Previously, it was mounted according to the walls, but since they did not match the dimensions of the staircase, it was remounted according to its own dimensions, and at the same time, a spindle was added in the middle, which was previously missing.
There has been a lot of creaking and settling in the staircase, but it is a bit better now.
However, especially in the mornings when the staircase has been "untouched" for several hours, there is a lot of creaking and cracking the first time you use it.
What I wonder is how quiet one can expect a new wooden staircase to be, any ideas?

In old houses, the stairs can creak quite a bit, but a new staircase in a new house should be fairly quiet.
My wooden staircase from '73 is completely silent except in August and September when it creaks quite a bit. I think it has to do with the humidity being at its highest then.
Some creaking is something you probably have to accept since it's wood we're talking about.

The staircase was very poorly installed from the beginning before reassembly, which may have affected the noise level, and it should be added that it was not the staircase manufacturer who installed the staircase. I don't know the cost as it was included in a turnkey contract for a house where we couldn't influence the options to any great extent. The staircase model is probably called a U-staircase.
Here is a short film to demonstrate the sound from the staircase, does it seem normal for a newly built house?
