Hello.
I'm new here on the forum and the reason is, of course, that it's time for renovation...
I have an extension on a townhouse between the main building and the outdoor storage. The plan is to replace the current ceiling/insulation and install an air gap (which I suspect is missing).
Layout is (feel free to comment if I'm wrong):
Roofing felt on the outer roof (remains)
Tongue and groove panel (remains)
Roof joists/trusses (remains)
Battens for air gap (NEW)
Masonite for air gap (NEW)
Insulation (NEW)
Vapor barrier (NEW)
Sparse paneling (NEW)
Ceiling panels/sheets (NEW)
Questions:
1. The roof trusses go from the house facade to the storage. The only way I can get air in is on the long side of the roof trusses (drilling). Any ideas on how to solve this? Just drill holes in the long sides of the trusses/joists and ensure that air comes in and can move throughout the air gap? How big should the holes be?
2. Suggestions for insulation for the construction.
3. Suggestions for a vapor barrier - are there different properties?
Best regards,
