Nail vs screw for upper carrier beam
Hello!
As the title suggests, I'm considering alternatives to using French timber screws for fastening the top beam to a deck roof. From what I understand, the practice is to use French timber screws, but I'm wondering if it works just as well to nail or if you lose some load-bearing capacity then?
I'm a complete layman, so please bear with me if this is a silly question or if the question has already been asked.

You can then drill for fransk in the rule so it goes freely in it, and in the panel, you pre-drill with a bit that matches the inner diameter of the threads. Keep in mind that there should be approximately 50 - 60 cm between the fransk to hold well. When you tighten, do it moderately, not too tightly. After about a year you can check on them, as wood has a tendency to shrink.
