I'm going to replace the paneling on my house gables. I will be installing tongue and groove paneling. Now to my question.
Should there be any space between the panels, or should they be installed tightly against each other?

An air gap between the panel and the windbreak is never wrong.

Voting for air gap ! :)

Air gap is the accepted term.

Air gap and 1 nail/panel board on each stud...
When nailing tongue-and-groove paneling, it is important that it has the ability to move, so do not use more than 1 nail at each fastening point on the panels. This is to minimize cracking!
