Hi!
What have they done?!
I am really curious about what has happened on top of my wardrobe in the walk-in closet in my apartment.
It could never have possibly had any electrical or water pipes there.
Water pipes/stems run through another room,
The electrical panel (original 1975) is in the walk-in closet, but in the opposite corner.
The wardrobe was also placed there in 1975.
I've lived here for a very long time without having discovered this.
I don't want to poke around and remove the boards unnecessarily, because on the other side of the wall lives a 25-year-old lady, and I don't want her to think that I've been tearing at the wall to peek in at her.
I am really curious, so please let me know what you think might have happened
PS. Maybe I should add that there is no other DIY in this apartment. Everything is done 110% professionally, except for this.

The chipboards are probably just to provide a support for cover panels above the wardrobe, they probably don't cover anything. The grayish color indicates that there was something there so the walls and ceiling couldn't be painted. Exactly what this was is hard to know, you say it hasn't been a duct for water, sewage, or ventilation. Perhaps a smaller wardrobe or cabinet previously?
The red is a red-transparent band that also seems to hang all the way down to the floor. Could it be something from the packaging that was around the wardrobe once upon a time? The unpainted area in the ceiling is approximately 28x38 cm, and then it seems to continue with the same dimensions downwards. Unfortunately, the wardrobe is placed directly on the concrete slab. And around it are two layers of plastic matting, so to slide it out, you need to lift it.
Probably, the craftsmen meant that if you can't see it, it doesn't exist. If you don't use the corner and haven't even noticed it before, then you can overlook it, or if you're handy, you can fix it yourself. (attach a full-cover chipboard on the back and paint the entire space. There might have been ventilation pipes in the wall, or they might have opened it to remove the skeleton from the closet
