Hello,
The kid is keen on buying a condominium that is in great need of renovation. The building is one of the many three-story buildings constructed in the suburbs of Stockholm during the 1940s, with concrete joists and interior walls made of some type of slag block, approximately 15 cm thick as far as I can tell.
The bathroom is 1.4 x 1.4 and difficult to make anything sensible of without enlarging.
In addition to moving the wall with the door to the bathroom, one door would need to be bricked up and a new doorway created in another wall.
With my amateur eyes, none of the interior walls seem to be load-bearing, they should be sturdier if they were, but I'm unsure about the thickness of the wall where the new doorway is to be made. It seems to be made of the same slag block as the others.
The apartment runs through the building and the house is about 6-7 m wide.
The building committee and the condominium association obviously must be involved, but is there anything that suggests it will be problematic to arrange at a reasonable cost?
