Move support beams to knee wall *Pictures*
Hello.
I'm renovating the upper floor. Planning to divide a room into two children's rooms and am interested in moving the attic wall.
The rafters are of a truss type with a roof angle of 38 degrees.
I would like to fit a bed that is 90*200cm. This means I need to remove/move/replace 2 support legs with a beam!?
The support legs are made of 2*4" and the truss is 2*6.
Can anyone tell if it is load-bearing and give tips on how to proceed?
I'm considering moving the legs in about 90cm and building a new wall there...

Did a similar project when I rebuilt my attic a number of years ago. Removed the support legs completely. I nailed 45x220 on the side of the existing rafters. It worked for me, but maybe it won't work in your case. Depends a bit on the span, etc.
Thanks for the response!
I'll think about it a bit more.
Still considering placing a beam in line where the support legs are today (across the trusses). The question then is how strong this needs to be...
Best regards

I have a house with essentially identical construction, needed to move out some support legs to get more space.. I didn't calculate directly but just moved them. Removing and replacing with a beam might require a bit more calculation and consideration.
