Hello

I'm going to mount a TV, but we have a plasterboard wall that is attached to studs behind it. I was thinking of first buying a stud finder to see where the studs are located. Is it enough to screw the TV mount into the studs, or do I need to drill them in? I was thinking of using a longer wood screw to secure the TV mount?

The weight of the TV is 20kg.

With a good wood screw, or rather I would say a construction screw, in a stud, you have no problems hanging substantial loads.

Something like that. No need to pre-drill. If you have a steel rule and not wood, there are ones with a tip adapted for that.
Thank you :)

Do you really think you need to go up to 6mm for a TV weighing 20 kg? Feels like overkill to me, but sure it should work too.

Yes, it's a bit overkill, but you sleep well and the screw drives nicely....

If it's a metal stud, use WITHOUT a drill tip and screw gently. It holds better without a drill tip and no problem to screw in.

Thanks for all the answers but the TV will stay on the TV table.
