Hi! We have bought a BESTÅ TV bench from Ikea and plan to place it against a gypsum wall with single gypsum board. Unfortunately, a sliding door cuts into the middle of the wall. So, if you screw anything in, the door will be obstructed. The cabinets are supposed to be screwed together at the sides, but could that be enough? The TV bench is essentially a square with small cabinets all around, and the TV is placed in the middle. There are 4 small cabinets above the TV, arranged two by height and two by width. We've assembled everything else, and it holds and sits well without attaching to the wall, but the other four will be above the TV and have nothing to lean against. We've considered attaching planks to the backs of the cabinets, but what else can we do? Screwing the cabinets to each other's sides should hold quite well, right?
In the picture from IKEA, you can see how it looks. Those four small cabinets above the TV are the problem!
