Hello,
(Hope I'm posting in the right category).
We have a drywall with a metal stud where I want to mount the METOD suspension rail from IKEA to hang 4 cabinets.
I calculate that the rail will be 2.4m wide and 4 cabinets will hang there with a weight of 90kg (cabinet & door) + 20-40kg contents.
I was hoping there would be a wooden stud for easy mounting of the rail, but now it became more advanced.
Can the drywall hold the rail by itself, or should I try to hit the metal stud with molly bolts or something similar?
All tips and thoughts are welcome, preferably if someone has done something similar themselves and how you solved it.
Follow-up question, if we say that a molly holds 20kg.
If I mount a rail horizontally with 6 molly bolts, will the rail hold for 6*20kg, or should it be calculated differently?
See attached image of the rail and drywall.
