Molly clamp and molly plug. What should one buy?

Managed to ruin the one I have from Jula (maybe no surprise) and am looking for a sensible alternative that doesn't cost a fortune?

Regarding the molly plug, I find that you always strip the slot/cross in the screw no matter which bit you use. Big difference if you buy more expensive plugs or am I doing something terribly wrong?

I haven't had issues with stripped holes since I started using pliers. But you shouldn't squeeze with all your might when tightening.
But you "have to" squeeze so that the plug expands properly?

I think you can usually tell when the expander has fully unfolded and "bottomed out" or however you want to describe it. It usually takes a couple of "quite gentle" pumps with the linked pliers.

Regarding the threads in the screw, you need to be a bit careful not to screw in at an angle into the "nut" in the plug, as the thread can strip if you use a screwdriver. It feels like the included screw is often a bit fragile. I sometimes hand screw it in until it grips the nut.

But it's definitely easier to handle more expensive plugs (like essve), that's almost always the case.

Biltema's model of Molly tool is sold by many. It wears out after little use. The press handle usually breaks and the locking function stops gripping. Pure rubbish. Better then with the cheap lever tool from Biltema (or another store)

Exactly the one from Jula I managed to break...

Then you should probably look for slightly better versions than both mentioned. Unfortunately, I have no tip.

I haven't had issues with stripped slots since I started using pliers. But you should not use too much force when squeezing.
I have this one from Biltema, bought it 15 years ago, used a lot in my job.
Stripped screw heads: Practice, practice, practice with the right tools and you'll never strip any screws.
