I was thinking of installing a strip to conceal a curtain rail, where there are no windows I'll cover the underside so that it becomes a box with a spotlight in it. Against the strip, I will have a styrofoam molding (no, I will *not* use incorrect spacing;)) glued.

The question is what material should I choose and how do I install it in a smart way?

I was thinking of MDF, joined with Domino but will it be stiff and straight enough? Maybe an L profile of MDF, so that it becomes an upside-down L, but then the MDF is screwed directly against the plaster ceiling, can it cause moisture problems?

The long side of the room is 11 meters, walls and ceiling are plaster/spackle.

Kind regards

The easiest way is probably to mount the MDF molding with angle brackets, facing inward toward the wall. Something like this: Metal angle bracket with multiple holes, used for securing MDF trim, positioned to connect surfaces at right angles.

Of course, this assumes that it's possible to screw into the ceiling.

They can be screwed onto the MDF molding before being installed, so it's easy to fill, sand, and paint the "molding" before it's mounted on the ceiling.
