Hi,

A couple of years ago, I built a home theater room in the basement. On the floor, I laid down Platon mat, then a layer for soundproofing (I forgot the name) before the click flooring. This weekend, I got bored and removed a bit of the flooring to see how it looked underneath. It was very wet on the concrete floor, which I actually knew it would be. I've been careful with the walls, a 5cm gap to the basement wall, metal studs in the floor and ceiling, spacers between all moldings, floor, and ceiling. But now I'm starting to get a bit worried, is there anything that might be damaged by the damp concrete? The moisture should have a chance to move, I think. I haven't noticed any strange smells. Is there any chance the concrete floor could be damaged by the water? There are double drywall panels as walls; can you notice anything on them if there are problems developing?

I had such a solution in a room in my basement, platon and then laminate. Tore it out because I had problems with silverfish and because I wanted to fix up the room. Yuck, how dirty it was under there, spiders, centipedes, silverfish, woodlice, dust.

I've read that the best solution is to have some mechanical ventilation that pulls air. If there's no smell, maybe it's not so bad. The work of tearing it out is usually not very fun.

Ugh and blah!! Doesn't seem so bad at my place! Yet :-)
Mechanical solution is definitely best but also costs accordingly, unfortunately. But back to my question, is there any risk with the water? After these years it really hasn't smelled like anything. More than beer and chips! :-)
