I'm working on a small construction project that will stand outdoors. The walls are made of MDF and I, in my folly, thought it would work if I painted the MDF properly, but now I'm starting to wonder and I've also read a bit about it so now I'm wondering if this is doomed from the start? How long will the MDF last?

I would guess mine is classified as Byggboard, meaning no special treatment.
Planning to prime a couple of times with solvent-based primer and then a couple of coats of regular water-soluble facade paint.

You probably need to paint the ends thoroughly too, then it might hold up for a while, otherwise it will probably swell at the first rain...
