I recently moved into an apartment where the closet has a somewhat "awkward" shape (the picture shows the floor area) and I'm not really sure how to maximize storage. I'm thinking of storing clothes/shoes/maybe some boxes there. Right now, the closet is just an empty room with bare walls. I'm considering some shelves but I also want to be able to hang clothes on hangers somewhere. Does anyone have good suggestions/ideas? Very grateful for all responses :D

  • Triangular closet space with wooden flooring and beige walls, shown from the doorway.
A clothes rail at the top for hangers with shirts, suits, blazers, dresses, etc.
Then a couple of shelves with drawers at the bottom, as much as can fit.
We don't know the height of the "wardrobe."

You have to, as they say, make a virtue of necessity.
Supplement with some storage boxes under the bed, they hold quite a bit and should suffice.

I would suggest built-in shelves on the left edge.

Note Off Topic :o

Not everyone leans left like you and I, Anna.
Some actually lean more to the right.
And this naturally applies to where they want to build their shelves as well.

OnTopic, the right wall looks like concrete, harder to attach things to :)

You are sharp-eyed, you see things that are hidden from the rest of us ;)

And I think concrete - easier to get things to stick. :)

A heavy decision, but I think it's thin-coated lightweight concrete :)

Incredibly tricky space!
Maybe one can find a curved rod so that clothes can be hung like a fan?

Move the door to the left to maximize the förering, but it might be more complicated than you thought?

Hi and thanks for all the answers!! I never thought someone would click in here and reply :wow: To clarify some things:
- The slanted wall is concrete but thin plastered, I'm not sure
- Unfortunately, the door can't be moved since it's a rental apartment :(
At first glance, I also thought like you suggested to put up a rod for hangers and have boxes above or below. The problem is just Small storage area with blue bag, shoes, a lampshade, a hanger on the floor, and a box partially filled with clothing items.
A person holding a wooden hanger against a light-colored wall, highlighting the lack of space for hanging clothes in a rental apartment.
Hangers wouldn't fit if a rod was put up there on the left
Still thinking 🤔 maybe if you could attach something to the ceiling like a wire, but how much weight could one hold? There are quite a few clothes I want to fit in...
@cpalm that wasn't a bad idea! I'll look into this further!

@Anna_H I'm thinking along those lines as well but just don't know how to make something for hangers...

Why can't you mount the rod in/against the wall with the light switch?

@redarn because then the other end/the bar mount goes against the slanted wall and how would you mount such a thing?

A small corner space with light wood laminate flooring and white walls viewed from above.
like this @redarn
