I've been thinking about using french cleats in my woodworking shed but am having trouble finding plywood that isn't construction graded.
Would glued wood panels work instead? I'm mainly concerned that the glue might come loose.
I'm not planning to hang anything very heavy, anyway...

I've considered MDF otherwise, but I have much better access to glued pine panels. Thoughts?

Why not construction-classed plywood?

What I can get, and what I have at home is only 10 mm, feels a bit thin?

Depends on what you are going to hang up.

Yeah, of course. Mostly tool holders right now, but I want to be able to hang up slightly larger cabinets and think 10 mm is a bit thin for that. Then I have quite a lot of pine edge-glued panels at home so I'm trying to avoid going to the lumberyard...

Try making cleats out of 10 mm and I think you'll realize that it becomes quite strong. Haven't tested it myself but I have that feeling.....

I'll have to think about it a bit

Laminated wood panels will probably work perfectly, or just regular solid wood.
