Hello

started removing an old wardrobe in our villa from 1924 and there was a hole behind it as well as some older board. I'm wondering what material it is and if one needs to be cautious for health reasons, like if it contains asbestos. Attaching pictures.

  • Close-up of a damaged wall with exposed old material and patterned wallpaper, possibly under renovation. Concern about possible asbestos content.
  • Old wall with exposed material behind torn patterned wallpaper, possible asbestos concern.
  • Wall with a hole exposing an old material behind patterned wallpaper, possibly needing inspection for hazardous substances like asbestos during renovation.
  • Damaged wall showing exposed old wallboard and possible asbestos material behind removed closet in 1924 house.
  • Old wallpaper with floral pattern partially removed, revealing a hole and older materials underneath; concern about possible asbestos content.
I should add that it is a wall adjacent to a bergslagskammin and that the gray piece looks like a panel that was added later.

Hard to say...
Is it hard like cement? Then it could be asbestos cement.
Put it in garbage bags and take it to recycling.
Wet wipe around where it was.
I wouldn't be worried as long as you haven't been standing and cutting into it.

Yes, the gray bit with a little texture on it is hard, only leaving a small mark when I press on it with an awl. Can you leave everything in place and encapsulate it somehow? It's a big hole that I want to fill in.

You do not need to encapsulate eternit because asbestos fibers are only released when you work with eternit, like sawing it, which causes dust.

Yes, I know that, but the gray board IF it contains asbestos has "weathered" or something, otherwise it would have been a whole board. But I still don't want any holes like gypsum plaster for indoor use.
