Make your own attic ladder

I have been tasked with ensuring that the inspector can access the attic of an old cottage that is to be sold. As far as I know, there is no ladder to it. How does one make a simple ladder oneself? The attic is not used, so it doesn't need to be very advanced.

I have been tasked with ensuring that the inspector can get up to the attic in an old cottage that is to be sold. As far as I know, there is no ladder to it. How do you make a simple ladder yourself? The attic space is not used, so it doesn’t need to be very advanced.

The nearest hardware store has ladders, so you won't have to discuss with the person who is going to climb it. Or borrow one from the neighbor.
