I'm moving into my house that I bought soon. I want a wall with a door in the living room on the upper floor. I've watched some on YouTube and maybe I could manage to do it myself. But what is the price range if you hire a carpenter? The wall itself is maybe 5 meters.

Is it something you can do yourself or is it too difficult for a beginner?

You can absolutely do it yourself! I did something similar a couple of years ago when I was a "beginner."

It's not that difficult to do it yourself, but expect it to take time. Things that look so easy in YouTube videos take considerably longer for us ordinary people if it's going to turn out well. And be precise when measuring and sawing. If it's an old house that's a bit crooked by a few centimeters here and there, it'll take even more time to measure and reconsider. What it would cost, I have no idea, I do everything except the electricity myself and have a lot of unfinished projects going on and suffer from stress symptoms.

Haha why don't you finish one thing at a time then?

It's more fun to start something new. A classic homeowner problem. :-)

But you get stressed by not finishing. Then maybe it's good to finish before you start something new.

One cures stress by focusing thoughts on a new project.

Yes, that's true. It's not a big problem for me, but I just wanted to highlight a not entirely uncommon issue that can arise when you have a house. But don't be too afraid of it. If you feel you have the time, it's great fun to build and fix things in the house.

But when the joint is to be applied at the end.. How do you get it straight then? So that it doesn't look terrible and uneven when you're going to paint?
